About the VansWe have two VW campers – we call them Olive and Rosie – and before you ask, the children named them! The campers have been fitted out with everything we can think of to make your holiday fun and comfortable.
Olive Olive is a 1974 1700cc Bay Window Volkswagen Westfalia Campervan. Olive sleeps two adults and two children, although there are seatbelts for six (4 three point and two lap belts). If there are more than four of you why not borrow our awning for extra space or bring your own tent? If you have a small child with you you may wish to try our our original cab hammock which can sleep a child from about three to six years! Olive was a family van and has spent lots of her life travelling on the continent.
Rosie Rosie is a 1973 1600cc Bay Window Volkswagen Westfalia Campervan. She has recently been completely refurbished and is very smart inside. Rosie sleeps two adults and two children and there are seatbelts for five (four three point and a lap belt). Again you may wish to borrow our awning for extra living space.
Check out the gallery for more pictures.
Both vans provide...
Both vans are equipped with a two-ring gas cooker and cool box fridge. There is a small sink with onboard water supply. There is a wardrobe and several storage cupboards as well as a roof rack to carry those larger items. You can provide your own sleeping bags or we can provide you with bedding. We have either sleeping bags or sheets and duvets and provide pillows The seats can accommodate baby car seats and children’s seats/booster cushion. We can rent you a tent/awning for an extra two people to sleep in and also to give some extra living room.
The Bay window van was produced from 1968 and has disc brakes. That means the vans can achieve a reasonable speed and also stop, which is useful. However, both vans are over 30 years old and so the cliché about the it being the journey and not the destination is true - like all good clichés. Leave yourself plenty of time and enjoy the scenery. They are air cooled, so don't accept any jocular offers of coolant.
Please see the tariffs section for a list of equipment we have availble.
We provide a welcome pack consisting of (for example)tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar, biscuits, bread, milk, eggs and a bottle of wine.

Volkswagen Campervans
The VW type 2 has just celebrated its 60th anniversary. Up to 1968 they had a very distinctive split front window, while the second generation type two has a bay window. They have been used as everything from vans to ambulances. The Campervan variety has a bewildering list of nicknames:
