Walking and Munro Bagging Based in the Highlands, we are in Munro country. Hiring a camper can take you closer to starting points meaning more time on the hills. We can supply guidebooks and maps to get you going.
Mountain Biking Scotland is fast becoming the No 1 mountain biking destination in Europe. The World Championship course at Fort William is just down the Great Glen, not to mention Woltrax at Laggan. There are also purpose built tracks at Highland Wildcat trails at Golspie and on the Black Isle at Learnie Red Rock Trails. Of course there are many cross-country routes too. Wildlife This is a great area to spot wildlife from Moray Firth dolphins, seals and otters to red deer and pine martens. If its wildlife you're after it's here in abundance. Surfing East Thurso beach has world class status in the surfing world. It is only a few hours up the A9 from us. What's cooler than arriving in a classic camper with your surfboards on the roof. Archaeology The Highlands have a rich archaeological heritage. There are beautifully carved Pictish stones just a few miles from our house, further afield there are ancient brochs and mysterious stone circles. Island Hopping Explore the Hebrides at your own pace without having to worry about where to stop. From Lewis to Barra, Skye to Gigha, each island has its own character. We can supply the dimensions of the van if you need to book your ferry. Don't forget Orkney and Shetland too.
Whisky Trail Scotland produces the best whisky in the world, and we have many distilleries nearby which offer tours. Glenmorangie, the best-selling single malt is just a few miles away at Tain. Birdwatching The Highlands have a great variety of habitats and a correspondingly diverse bird population. What could be better than birdwatching from the comfort of your campervan. Fishing From sea to river to loch, the Highlands provide excellent opportunities for angling. A campervan will take you there.
Favourite Campsites Here are a few of our favourite campsites: Achmelvich Fabulous west coast beach campsite - the beach is sheltered and the water is almost warm! The drive to it is memorable. Glenmore Beautiful speyside setting surrounded by Caledonian pinewoods. As if this wasn't enough, it is sited on the shore of Loch Morlich, providing a 'beach' and a water sports centre. Classic children's site, so watch out for the mad cyclists. Big Sands, Gairloch Just what it says. Great place for a fire on the beach as the sun goes down in the west. Just remember that in summer it goes down very late this far north. Dornoch Lovely village complete with a Cathedral. The campsite is great, although they don't like fires on the beach. If you are there on a Saturday night in summer, don't miss the pipe band and highland dancers taking over Dornoch Square. Findhorn Two campsites here. The Findhorn Sands has the dunes and the sea, the Findhorn Foundation campsite has a unique atmosphere, an eclectic bookshop and a campsite shop which is more delicatessen than grocers.
